The Manager and Director are committed to staff development and training and all staff are encouraged to seek personal improvement and knowledge for the care, safety and well-being of the residents. Most of our care staff have achieved NVQ Level II Certificates in Care and some, including all the Senior Carers, have progressed to NVQ Level III.

Jean Walker has twenty-four years experience in health care management having trained as a nurse and held a senior position within the BUPA organisation. Jean has achieved Level 4 NVQ Registered Managers Awarded (Adults) and has overall responsibility to ensure the standards of Old Charlton House are achieved, maintained and enhanced, therefore providing a high quality of life for the residents.
Miss Deidre Cooper is the registered manager of the home having been appointed in November 2007 following the retirement of the former registered manager. Deidre has completed NVQ Level IV in Care and the RMA (Registered Managers Award) and is committed to updating her skills and knowledge through regular ongoing training.
Deidre is responsible for the day-to-day management of the home and reports to Jean Walker.
In addition to the manager, the home employs an assistant manager, a health and safety / training manager, an administrator, five senior care assistants, 16 care assistants (full / part time), two chefs, two house keepers, a full time maintenance person, a servery assistant, a laundress and a gardener. All staff receive regular training and supervision from the manager in order to ensure the best standards of care are given to our residents.
